Jay, a tortured child of Chinese immigrants, is now a struggling actor and poker dealer for the Mafia living in NYC. Jay just discovered, at age 35, that he has had Complex PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorder his entire life. In this half-hour dark comedy, we indulge in the profound trainwreck that is Jay’s day-to-day as he juggles an illegal night job, tons of hot but meaningless sex, and a stationary acting career. His goals are clear: #3 Stop blaming his mother for all things before she dies, #2 Find somebody to love without fucking it up, #1 Become a series regular on a TV show. Overcoming himself in his path towards these goals will be hard, hilarious, starkly illuminating for Jay and shockingly moving for us.
FELT lives at the intersection of an immigrant story, a grimy crime world, the glory and oppression of being an actor, the pursuit of true love while succumbing to rancid lust, origin flashbacks of childhood darknesses and funnies from Shanghai, China, and Flushing, Queens, and a present-day New York City story of resilience.
